Synonym für angelsächsische Notation. Die Notation regelt die Namensgebung der Noten. Die 12 Töne lauten:

Das Suffix ^# drückt eine Erhöhung um einen Halbton aus, das Suffix ^b eine Erniedrigung um einen Halbton. Das ^# wird als „sharp“ ausgesprochen, das ^b als „flat“.
